Social Media Giant Claims That Internet Shutdowns And Suppression Violates Basic Human Rights, But ONLY In Uganda
by staffPublic policy folks at Twitter stood in opposition to efforts to shut down internet access before the Ugandan elections this week. They also opposed the blocking of messaging apps and other forms of social media.
Twitter stated it condemns internet shutdowns because, they are harmful, violate basic human rights and the principles of the open internet.
But, just last week, Twitter banned President Trump from Twitter permanently. It is also committing a purge of tens of thousands of Trump supporters. Conservative platforms are also being shut down by the likes of Amazon.com, Facebook, Apple and Google. Oh, the hypocrisy.
